Background and Scope of Application
Definition of Standard: EN215 is a harmonised European Union standard for thermostatic control valves for radiators (thermostatic control valves), which applies to temperature regulating equipment in plumbing systems to ensure that it meets the requirements of health, safety and environmental protection before it is put into circulation in the EU market.
Regulatory basis: under the EU Construction Products Regulation (CPR 305/2011), it is required to comply with EN215-1 (design standards) and EN215-2 (test methods).
Core technical requirements
Materials and durability:
Valve body: commonly used brass or nickel-plated copper alloy, need to pass 5,000 cycles of opening and closing test to ensure no leakage or jamming.
Seal: Resistant to 110℃ high temperature, 85℃ hot water immersion for 500 hours without deformation.
Temperature sensing element: liquid or wax material, temperature adjustment accuracy ±1℃ (20-24℃ range), low temperature test (-10℃) without brittle crack.
Performance test:
Sealability: pressurised to 16bar (approx. 1.6MPa) hold for 3 minutes, no leakage from each interface.
Pressure drop test: when the water flow rate is 0.1m/s, the pressure drop of the valve in fully open state ≤ 0.01MPa.
Temperature calibration: from 6℃ to 40℃ in 7 grades to verify the accuracy of the scale, to ensure the accuracy of linear adjustment.
