The radiator thermostat works on the principle that the temperature pack senses changes in the ambient temperature. After sensing the temperature change, the temperature packet will produce a volume change and drive the spool of the regulating valve to produce displacement, thus regulating the amount of water in the radiator. This self-acting action does not require external power, through the temperature packet senses the ambient temperature, automatically regulates the flow of hot water through the radiator to achieve thermostatic control.
